The 2018 event welcomed over 45 000 visitors, 212 exhibitors and almost 400 media. These numbers are unprecedented at an inaugural show.
Comic Con Africa focuses on all elements of pop culture, including cosplay, comic books, anime, manga, other creatives, film & series, games (including video and esports) and books/authors. The festival also features a large range of pop culture and entertainment elements in animation, toys, gadgets, clothing, collectible card games, video games, webcomics, and fantasy novels and the ever-popular Artists' Alley.
Superhero or sidekick – there are exciting activations to enjoy that include professional gaming tournaments, other gaming activations, Cosplay Competitions, and new Movie and Series promotions. Comic Con Africa visitors can also enjoy cosplay competitions, celebrity panel discussions, seminars, workshops and autograph sessions.

The Association of African Exhibition Organisers (AAXO) was formed to provide a collective platform of address and representation for professional exhibition organisers throughout Africa.
AAXO includes exhibition organisers across a range of trade, consumer and conference-driven exhibitions, namely Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery, Messe Munchen SA, Hypenica, Reed Exhibitions, Spintelligent, Terrapinn, The Wedding Group, SA Confex Services, TE Trade Events, Exposure Marketing, Agri Expo, On Show Solutions, Expo Promotions, The Wine Show, Synergy Business solutions, ZITF and Media 10.
With the wealth of knowledge and experience brought to the association by these organisations, AAXO has the energy and expertise to deal with the unique challenges and needs that organisers are faced with, and give them a powerful and credible voice.
AAXO aims to promote the industry, encourage people to invest and participate in exhibitions, and give members the tools and resources to run successful exhibitions.
This includes introducing a code of conduct that is fair, ethical and with remedy and confidentiality; running training programmes that improve the outcome of exhibitions; mediating disputes fairly and with sensitivity; conducting research to provide organisers and exhibitors with growth and business opportunities; engaging with government on greater recognition of the industry; and networking with relevant conference and exhibition bodies to share issues.
Throughout these and all other activities, AAXO strives to represent all its members with honesty and integrity, and to provide them with guidance and leadership.
