Cosplay is a term that comes from a combination of the words “costume” and “play”. It gives fans a chance to express their fondness for fictional characters by dressing up and acting like their favourite characters. Over the last few years Cosplay has grown at a substantial rate in South Africa and throughout Africa, allowing South Africa to start to compete at an international standard. This live-action art form is a ton of fun and we encourage people of all ages, ethnicity, shapes and sizes to join us.

We dare you to cosplay at Comic Con Africa!

Cosplay Central, it’s the meeting place, the mecca, the hub, the can't-miss destination for Cosplayers and cosplay fans at Comic Con Africa! Cosplay Central will be buzzing all weekend long. Come round to meet our special Cosplay guests, get your photo taken, see local Cosplay on display and grab your photo in front of one of our awesome cosplay backdrops.

Comic Con Africa, Reed Exhibitions, GES SA and their partners and sponsors are very firm believers in Cosplay is not consent.

Please keep your hands to yourself during the con, should you wish to take a picture with another Comic Con Africa Fan always ask first and respect that person’s right to say no. When at Comic Con Africa, be respectful, be nice, be cool and kind to each other.

Should any cosplayer feel threaten or unsafe at any time please report any misconduct to any of the event organisers or security guards.

Grab your friends and take a photo in front of our awesome backdrops.

Sometimes your cosplay bombs out. That’s why we have a Cosplay change room, a mirror and Cosplay repairs.

Local volunteering photographers will be there and ready for action. Best part of it is that its mahala, that’s right… FREE.

All photos will be saved on the Comic Con Africa online gallery after the event.
